After receiving treatment, he was flown by sea plane to the Gladstone Hospital.

The young man is in good spirits and coping with the injury quite well.

The incident comes two days after Allan Countryman, a 31-year-old was bitten by a shark 420 miles north of Brisbane off Miall Island near Rosslyn Bay.

Mr. Countryman was spearfishing at the time and was surrounded by a group of mackerel when the shark bit him.

Australia has been dealing with several shark related incidents that began in 2015.

The Department of Primary Industries has allocated money to go toward shark spotting drones and tracking buoys.

The location has been marked on the 2016 shark attack bites tracking map.
